PRAYER MINUTE FOR JORDAN GAGNON Uncategorized

PRAYER MINUTE FOR JORDAN GAGNON

Beautifully peaceful, loving, happy, and easy going, these are all words I would use to describe my daughter Jordan Gagnon. But here are some other less liked words, Terminal, GMO, patient #7, GAN. Those words I wish we could forget. Jordan was diagnosed over three years ago with Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN). This currently is a terminal genetic condition that effects the nervous system, slowly cutting of every nerve in the body. On August 2nd Christa messaged, "Hey Pastor Bob, have you ever heard of a prayer minute done on social media? I had this thought yesterday that I could orchestrate a specific day and time for those that were interested they could pray for Jordan and our miracle. Has…

7 THINGS KIDS DO TO CHANGE THE WORLD Uncategorized

7 THINGS KIDS DO TO CHANGE THE WORLD

"What can kids do? They're too young to make a difference." Don't tell that to Sydney Woodworth and her crew at "The Lemonade Stand." While none of them are old enough to get their beginner driver's license they all have enough drive to move mountains. Plus, they've been changing the world for nine summers now. Sydney was awarded "Superstar" status in July 2016 for organizing the TOP FUNDRAISING GROUP for the Stollery. Jesus said, "Whoever becomes as a humble as a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Faith is not childish, its child-like and its what moves mountains. Adults can learn important lessons from kids and what they are doing. 7 Things Kids Do To Change the…

THE POWER OF 2ND CHANCES: THE KELLYS’ STORY Uncategorized

THE POWER OF 2ND CHANCES: THE KELLYS’ STORY

2nd chances are a gift from God. His 20-year marriage had just ended. Rick didn’t expect to see anything positive from the ordeal. Her 25-year marriage also ended in divorce. Jan's expectations of the future were few in number and a "happily-ever-after" wasn't one of them. Jan jokes that the end of her marriage was her fault. “I couldn’t get along with my husband’s girlfriend – even though she was my best friend!” Rick was worried about the legal costs and shared custody of his young daughter. He hit rock bottom. A GODWINK When a friend shared that there’s hope through faith in Jesus Christ, Rick accepted Jesus into his life and started to attend church. It was no coincidence…

ITS TIME TO UPDATE YOUR FACEBOOK STATUS Uncategorized

ITS TIME TO UPDATE YOUR FACEBOOK STATUS

Facebook was in the news for all the wrong reasons this week. Is now the time to delete Facebook? No. Opportunity Facebook is a platform to share lots of things - one of which is hope. On Christmas Eve 2017, North Pointe had its highest ever single day attendance - 3,300 people. Hundreds of guests came to North Pointe because of an ad seen by Facebook users. North Pointers shared it to invite their friends and family. Canadian, Thom Rainer of Growing Healthy Churches says, "If you're not using Facebook you’re missing a huge opportunity to reach people." Users * 59 billion monthly active users * 1.038 billion daily users * 72% of online adults visit Facebook at least monthly.…

GRACE OF MANY COLORS: HEATHER’S STORY Uncategorized

GRACE OF MANY COLORS: HEATHER’S STORY

When I first held Heather Enright's book in my hands I knew I was touching a rare treasure.  Grace of Many Colors isn't your typical coloring book. Before even one crayon touches a page of this book it gives off a colorful hue of hope. My friend, Colleen passed the book on to me. She heard Heather's inspiring story about creating her book. "It was scary, thrilling, surreal and inspiring to produce this book. It was a labor of love to redeem back everything that cancer had stolen from me. I'm using it to help anyone battling cancer - for every book purchased I'll give one away to a cancer patient." At first, Colleen couldn’t think of any friends with…

HOW A SEVERE ANXIETY DISORDER LED ME TO A WORLD RACE Uncategorized

HOW A SEVERE ANXIETY DISORDER LED ME TO A WORLD RACE

When I got the call that told me that I had been accepted to participate in the World Race, I was completely shocked. While I had spent the past couple of weeks trusting that God had planned what was best for my future, I had a nagging feeling from the day that I submitted my application that I would not get in. The reason? I didn't think that a girl with a severe anxiety disorder would be looked at as a viable option for spending nine months living out of a backpack and traveling the world. Simply put, I believed that I was way too messed up.  When you meet Maya Kuipers, the first thing you notice is her confident…

REVITALIZATION AND MULTIPLICATION Uncategorized

REVITALIZATION AND MULTIPLICATION

The illuminated face of the clock by the bed read, “3:38.” Conscious. Confused. Clear. Awake! O yah, its Thursday and I’m supposed to jet to Vancouver. Belt buckled. Keys in pockets. Shoes on. Groomed! No time for brewing coffee. Grrrrr. Notes? Check. iPhone ticket? Check. Car rental? Check. Ready! Cold and snow blankets everything, delaying but invigorating. Sparse traffic. Silent morning. Slushy roads. Departures! The ripples of 9/11 are reminders that tighter security doesn’t make life feel more secure. Belt off. Pockets emptied. Shoes off. Inconvenienced! The best part of flying. Not. 32,000 feet. 548km/hr -64C Purpose! The planeload empties at almost the identical local time we departed. Rain for snow. Green for white. Mountains for plains. Envious! A rented…

GOOD NEWS GIRL ON CTV

Faith, joy and hope are timeless qualities that will help you be your best even when life is at its worst. For Kristen Fersovitch they were a trilogy of tested and trusted convictions. She has appeared in national magazines, newspapers, blogs and published in a hardcover book. In December 2015, CTV Edmonton ran a prime time feature on her life of music, family, marriage, parenting, and hope. Thank you, Dez Melenka at CTV for so beautifully telling Kristen's story. BE YOUR OWN INSPIRATION Uncategorized

BE YOUR OWN INSPIRATION

Your most vital responsibility is managing yourself. Self-management is critical in the area of inspiration. Great leaders learn how to self-motivate. I've collected the following quotes from mentors and momentous experiences in my life. I know there's at least one in there for you. 18 Inspiring Statements Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's…

R.A. Dickey: Wherever I Wind Up

Got Blue Jays fever yet? Dickey is a Blue Jays pitcher who's got a good grip on life and a baseball. I was willing to go into extra innings to read, "Wherever I Wind Up," because I didn't want to put it down.. In what is arguably the most popular book on baseball, "Ball Four," Jim Bouton opened the doors 42 years ago to reveal what really goes on in a big league clubhouse (and hotels). R.A. Dickey does something even braver: he opens the door to the darkest moments of his life - from the sexual abuse he suffered at age 8 to his depression and the extramarital affair that almost ended his marriage. His courage in telling his…
