HERE COME THE CAVERLYS

Trevor and Cherise and their son Parker are part of our North Pointe family. Trevor will be ordained (becoming a "REV") on Sunday April 17th at 11:00am. (Leave a note for him below.) Trevor Caverly joined the pastoral staff at North Pointe on 01/01/16 as our "Connections Pastor." Trevor was an intern at North Pointe four years ago, working with youth. He is highly respected as a pastor in Alberta and BC. He returned to North Pointe with his wife, Cherice and son, Parker where Trevor is helping move us into our next chapter of ministry. There are many reasons we are excited to be at North Pointe. We are excited because we have felt this is God ordained, that…

ABBA’S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER: A SADLY TRUE STORY

This guest post is from a woman I know who is courageously sharing her story about childhood sexual abuse so that others can find hope, freedom and healing. My home life growing up was quite dysfunctional; I am the youngest of four, and knew from an early age that my mother never planned for a fourth child. My parents were both quite emotionally disconnected from me and looking back, I now see my emotional neediness even as a young child. My mother was a very heavy drinker and on medication for depression for years. She often threatened to leave when us kids got on her nerves. My father was explosively angry and prone to rage, and I rarely if ever…

RELATIONSHIPS: WHAT WAS, WHAT IS, WHAT WILL BE

On September 18, 2014, with only 57 minutes notice, my family as I knew it, died. Within an hour of CPR that failed, my four children lost their father, his parents lost their son, and I lost the relationship I was supposed to grow old in. The grief was so thick I couldn’t see through it. In the days that followed, I began to realize how much was missing and would be affected going forward. It wouldn’t be just George who would be grieved, there was so much more. It was all the relationships built along the way. Lost Relationships Each of the children had a unique relationship that was lost. Shyla no longer had Dad in the stands watching…

LOVE IN ACTION

He called out, "I love you," every time he or one of his family members left the house. His wife, Alisha, used to bug him saying, "I'm just getting milk, not going off to war." Mushy? No way. Forever Words "I love you" were the last words this young wife heard as he hurried off to play goalie like he always did on hockey nights. He never imagined that "I love you" would have to last her forever. The phone rang after midnight. "Massive heart attack...no chance...he's gone." "I love you," is what she clings to, or what clings to her. Those words fit her better now than his favorite jersey. Love is verb and while there is more to…

WHEN LIFE THROWS YOU A CURVEBALL

I just happened to get hit with one of life’s curve balls. It fooled me; I didn’t see it coming and I certainly wasn’t prepared. The internal injuries were severe. There were days I didn’t think I would survive such trauma. Clearly, there were no winners in this game. No one gets married with the intent to get a divorce. Wendy Connors played fastball since she was a young girl and was picked up by many teams, winning several championships along the way. I love how Wendy uses her love for fastball to share a portion of her life story. Wendy's leadership skills and devotion helped start North Pointe's Divorce Care ministry, the Single and Parenting ministry and the Singles…
