WHEN A CHILD SUFFERS: A MOM’S HEART

Christa Gagnon is the proud mom of two handsome boys and one precious little girl. When all of her friends in high school were discussing which programs they were going to take in University and what they wanted to be when they “grew up” she can remember thinking that her one and only desire in life was to be a mom. Being A Mom Being a mom was the best career choice she ever made. “I will never forget the first amazing months with my first child. Looking at him and thinking that I had no idea the heart could feel that amount of love for one human being. To my surprise it was the same when Jordan was born…

To Write Love on Her Arms

Jamie Tworkowski, didn’t set out to start a nonprofit organization. All he wanted to do was help a friend and tell her story. When Jamie met Renee Yohe, she was struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts. He wrote about the five days he spent with her before she entered a treatment center, and he sold T-shirts to help cover the cost. When she entered treatment, he posted the story on MySpace to give it a home. The name of the story was “To Write Love on Her Arms.” Renee's Story "Renee is 19. COMMUNITY: CATALYST FOR PERSONAL GROWTH

When its been a long time since I've spoken to a friend, I tend to forget just how good of a friend they are. One day, when we finally DO reconnect, I wonder why I ever allowed the time and the distance to keep us apart. We all need community. I truly believe we were created for relationship and to be amongst people.   Melissa Benson grew up in the community at Central/North Pointe. Melissa served our church in outreach ministries to children and youth in downtown Edmonton. She was employed as a youth pastor in Ottawa, Ontario and has volunteered in Haiti and most recently in Malawi serving orphans. Now she is married with a child of her own. She…

THE OPPOSITE OF LONELINESS Uncategorized

THE OPPOSITE OF LONELINESS

"We don’t have a word for the opposite of loneliness, but if we did, I could say that’s what I want in life." Marina Keegan was a student at Yale and a student of life. She was a playwright, a performer, an activist, a poet, a writer of fiction and a journalist for the Yale Daily News. Five days after she graduated in 2012, 22-year-old Marina was killed in a car accident. Her final composition went viral in the days following her death. Marina's last words hold a bitter sweet irony: "We don’t have a word for the opposite of loneliness, but if we did, I could say that’s what I want in life. What I’m grateful and thankful to…
