REST FOR THE BEAT UP AND BURNED OUT

Every Sunday at North Pointe's celebrations, anyone can come as they are. We drink coffee, laugh, worship, learn, pray, hug, love. Most importantly, we recover our lives. This Is Who We Are Over eighty four nationalities are represented in the community of North Pointe. We are characterized by multiple languages, ethnicities, educational backgrounds, preferences and styles - but one priority – a personal relationship with Jesus. North Pointe is a Bapticostal-Anglican-Reformed-Catholic-Lutheran-Charismatic-Alliance community of single, married, divorced, remarried, pre-believers, seekers and fully devoted followers of Jesus. We're a plurality of race, culture, style, socioeconomics, politics, language, ages, marital status - and a singularity in devotion to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Come As You Are The Church is imperfect but…

11 LESSONS FROM TRAVELING LIGHT

Trains, planes and automobiles. However you go, traveling is a blessing. Seeing the world can change your world. Over the last four decades Jocelyn and I have journeyed in single engine aircraft, sea planes, helicopters, Boeing jetliners, buses, vans, tuk tuks, taxis, horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, ferries, barges and riverboats. We’ve paid bribes at border crossings, been interrogated by armed guards at remote checkpoints, suffered air and sea-sickness, and raced through airports to make our connecting flights. We’ve heard every excuse in the book for flight delays, unfulfilled promises and lost luggage. And we’ve loved every minute of our travels. Well, not every minute but 97.2 % of them (see “lost luggage” above). Travel takeaways have formed our thinking and holiday…

WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO: CINDY KREMP

“You have cancer.” What other words could bring a deeper chill on a hot summer day? The Phone Call My friend Cindy was in a comfortable cabin at a beautiful lake enjoying a family holiday. Her doctor's phone number appeared on her cell phone screen. "Why would my doctor be calling me?" A deafening silence followed his word "cancer." Unable to speak she listened to him say, over and over "I am so sorry. I am so sorry." "I didn’t think anyone could cry as much as I was during it all, buckets and buckets. Horror and sorrow. Your world comes to a complete stop. You have no idea what is before you and the unknown is scary." I was…

SIGNS AND WONDERS TODAY

Supernatural manifestations or signs and wonders, as described in the Bible, will always capture the attention of people. A sign or wonder in the life of a hurting individual effectively communicates the love that our Father has for mankind. Signs And Wonders I had just entered the Spirit-filled life and, of course, all of this “supernatural stuff” was totally new to me. One particular incident tremendously impressed me. Two brothers I had recently met became dear friends of mine. Both were filled with the Holy Spirit. I decided to “hang out” with them in order to learn as much as I could from them - a good strategy because the things of God are more likely to be caught than…

CHOOSE MERCY – 2018

No mercy. Those were the code words for a no holds barred, anything is permissible, cutthroat kind of clash. Battling to the end. Only one walks away. Deadly. My Thai opponent and I always drew a crowd. Good thing the battleground was simply a competitive game of Ping Pong. The Air We Breathe Ironically, our “no mercy” competitions occurred when Prayoon and I were classmates in Bible College learning about the mercy God. And I learned so much more after Bible College – in the school of hard knocks - about God’s mercy. Mercy is in the air we breathe. Every morning brings new mercy. What Mercy Is Mercy is love with two hands attached. These are hands that are…

OWN THE BIBLE READING PLAN 2018

Let me guess why you stopped reading the Bible - you’re ticked off because its hard to understand. Its got monster words like “propitiation” and “justification.” Don't even get you started on the book of Leviticus. And you’re just too busy. I get it. I am you. Readers Funny how I can’t get enough of reading blog posts, sports summaries, biographies and leadership books. But reading the Bible? What would happen if you read nothing but the Bible for a year? OK. How about – if you read the Bible for a year? OK. What about – if you read the Bible today? I guarantee that 2018 will be different for you if you start by taking eleven minutes each…

A MERRY CHRISTMAS 2017

Hope is found in the smallest of Christmas miracles. A baby. In a manger. Wrapped in strips torn from a coat. A mother wrapped in wonder. Under a single star. God with us. The wise still seek Him, bringing the gift of their life. Praying for you - joy, courage, and health. Merry Christmas and peace to you, your family and friends, today and in the New Year. With love, Pastor Bob, Jocelyn and the ministry staff of North Pointe.

GONE TO GET A KIDNEY, LOVE PHYLLIS

“Gone to get a kidney. Love, Phyllis.” That was so Phyllis. Concise. Caring. Understated. The hurried note left on the table for her new husband Bruce was a matter-of-fact reminder of how Phyllis approached life. Get Here Now Minutes earlier she received a phone call from her attending physician. It was the call she had long anticipated and prayed for. “Phyllis, you need to get to the hospital right away.” “I can’t.” “What do you mean you can’t?” “I’ve got to take a bus because there is no one to drive me.” Her doctor pointedly told her, “No. Take a taxi.” “I don't have any money to pay for a taxi.” She could feel the urgency in her doctor’s voice.…

PRESIDENT’S BIGGEST MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE?

JERUSALEM - DECEMBER 6, 2017 Photo by Mostafa Alkharouf/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images The Palestinian Liberation Organization called it “the biggest mistake of his life." The French called it “a contravention of international law.” Chinese officials expressed concern for escalated violence and a setback in the peace process. Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Turkey all rejected the decision. The Canadian government was conspicuously careful by not criticizing the decision but declaring that Canada's embassy would remain in Tel Aviv. The Democrats piled on for good measure. Why The fuss? President Donald Trump declared that the US Embassy would be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, “the capital of Israel.” Interesting enough, former President Obama declared on June 4, 2008 - "Jerusalem will remain the…
