GREG MUSSLEMAN’S STORY: FEAR NOT

Over the years I’ve heard many stories in my travels to countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith in Jesus that defy human understanding. These ordinary people should be terrified and full of fear, but many of them aren’t. Why? I’ve come to realize it’s their faith in Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit that causes them to respond with great courage. One such person is Saratu. This is a guest post from Greg Mussleman, the VP of Media and Domestic Ministry for The Voice of the Martyrs Canada. I've known Greg since he was a sports Broadcaster with TSN and a neighbor in St Albert. Greg travels extensively to Iran, Jordan, Ethiopia, India, North Korea and…

HONEY AND BETTS: HANNAH KAUP’S STORY

Finding courage, strength and beauty in the midst of challenges is a life long journey of discovery. Hannah Kaup experienced surprising ways in which God brought these qualities into her life at just the right time and she is generously sharing those discoveries. This is a guest post from Hannah – a stay at home mom, wife to Matthew, mama to Annaliese and Abigail - and founder of Honey and Betts! As a young mom, wife and believer I have to be fearless in my faith and I try to spread the truth to many broken people. I've discovered that my timing and God's timing are not the same, and it is my journey of my acceptance of that that I…

HEY 2016! HERE WE COME

Beginning with the end in mind isn’t so much about goal setting, it’s more like painting a picture of what your year will look like from the end backwards. Try it. Close your eyes and envision yourself looking back on your 2016, what do you see? What would you want said about your life as a result of how you lived? ONE WORD At North Pointe we're following a process borrowed from our friends at “OneWord365” For the past five years we've selected ONE WORD to prophetically shape the coming year. Our words have been: "REACH," "AWAKEN," "COURAGEOUS," and "HOPE." What ONE WORD would you want summing up your year? Your ONE WORD Your WORD - it can be a…

16 KEYS TO LIVING FEARLESSLY

Fear of rejection, heights, looking stupid, not getting the job, or not being good enough - whatever the fear, it can cruelly twist you out of shape. Fear may be good for keeping you safe but it will sideline your life from doing things that matter. I know that to be true because the list above holds some of my fears. I've relied on the following keys to persistently face fear. 16 Keys to Living Fearlessly Key #1 - A fearless life does not mean you fear less, it means you've found a purpose more powerful than your fears that emboldens you to act in spite of your fear. Key #2 - Living fearlessly is not acting foolishly or behaving…

9 RESOLUTIONS WORTH MAKING

Resolutions can make a big difference in your life – even if you don’t do a perfect job sticking with them. And resolutions aren't just for January. They work in August, or September or whenever you apply them. Powerful changes tomorrow start with positive choices today. Which of these nine choices will rise to the top for you? 9 Resolutions Worth Making 1. Cut Others Some Slack Say "yes" to being offended less and reserving your anger for issues that really matter. 2. Cut Yourself Some Slack When you mess up, drop the ball or let people you care about down, do what you can to make it right, but be quick to move on and show yourself the same…

The stories of 2015 that most interested people include the miracle of a preemie baby's first year of life, finding healing from abuse, courageous faith and a gentleman football player. ABBA'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER: A TRUE STORYMy home life growing up was quite dysfunctional; I am the youngest of four, and knew from an early age that my mother never planned for a fourth child. THE FORCE AWAKENS

Star Wars is everywhere. The telling point for me was Jeremy Gifford’s video ad for North Pointe’s Christmas Eve service. The out takes were hilarious. He says his parched throat makes him sound like “Chewbacca.” Then he wheezed like a Wookie. I’m not a big Star Wars fan but even I didn’t need to ask, “Chew, who?” https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.c.gifford/videos/10153679898606480/ STAR WARS How big is the Star Wars phenomenon? It’s no Jedi mind trick that makes me know you’ll recognize some if not all of the following terms: “May the Force be with you.” “In a galaxy far, far away.” "Do or do not… there is no try." C3PO R2D2 Ewoks Wookies Skywalker Darth Vader Jedi Lightsabers FANTASY FICTION George Lucas created…

HERE COME THE CAVERLYS

Trevor and Cherise and their son Parker are part of our North Pointe family. Trevor will be ordained (becoming a "REV") on Sunday April 17th at 11:00am. (Leave a note for him below.) Trevor Caverly joined the pastoral staff at North Pointe on 01/01/16 as our "Connections Pastor." Trevor was an intern at North Pointe four years ago, working with youth. He is highly respected as a pastor in Alberta and BC. He returned to North Pointe with his wife, Cherice and son, Parker where Trevor is helping move us into our next chapter of ministry. There are many reasons we are excited to be at North Pointe. We are excited because we have felt this is God ordained, that…
