Truckin’ was in Don Stoner’s blood. So was coffee but that goes with the territory.
Don lived in Edmonton. He knew the run to Winnipeg like the back of his hand.
For One Hour
Just beyond Winnipeg lived his granddaughter, Kylie. In Chelmsford, Ontario.
After making a run to Winnipeg, he decided to go and see her.
From Winnipeg he drove through Hawk Lake,
Nipigon,
Dryden,
Upsala,
Thunder Bay,
Terrace Bay,
Marathon,
Wawa,
Sault Ste Marie,
Bruce Mines,
Thessalon,
Blind River,
Espanola,
Webwood,
Sudbury,
and then jogged north to Chelmsford.
That’s one thousand, six hundred and ninety three kilometers – one way.
All for one hour.
With a granddaughter who was way too young for coffee.
At Tim Horton’s.
Extravagant Love
Says a lot about the man.
And about love.
Extravagant love.
Don Stoner passed away on June 27th, 2017. His granddaughter Kylie made the trip from Chelmsford to Edmonton to be at her grampa’s memorial.
Fourteen years previous Don’s wife Vicki died of cancer. He cared for her at home until he no longer could.
Vicki’s most painful days were soothed because she never worried about being alone.
Don and Vicki were a part of God’s family at Central/North Pointe. They’re re-united in heaven now because of God’s extravagant love in Jesus.
He came from heaven to earth, to show the way for people like Vicki, Don, Kylie and you.

Thank you, Pastor Bob. Vicki was a wonderful volunteer at the Chapel that I had a special connection with. She was sooooo encouraging. Her final days were hard, but her eternity is now complete with Don. What a blessing.

A long drive here but eternity in heaven . What a “difference maker” he was . There was a song about being a difference maker that we sang in our youth group many years ago. This is what it looks like .
