THE POWER OF 2ND CHANCES: THE KELLYS’ STORY

2nd chances are a gift from God. His 20-year marriage had just ended. Rick didn’t expect to see anything positive from the ordeal. Her 25-year marriage also ended in divorce. Jan's expectations of the future were few in number and a "happily-ever-after" wasn't one of them. Jan jokes that the end of her marriage was her fault. “I couldn’t get along with my husband’s girlfriend – even though she was my best friend!” Rick was worried about the legal costs and shared custody of his young daughter. He hit rock bottom. A GODWINK When a friend shared that there’s hope through faith in Jesus Christ, Rick accepted Jesus into his life and started to attend church. It was no coincidence…

5 PROFILES IN COURAGE

The following five stories of courage caught the attention and captured the hearts of our readers. These profiles will give you a boost to continue on your own courage highway. 1. I love how Wendy uses her love for fastball to share a portion of her life story. Wendy's leadership skills and devotion helped start North Pointe's Divorce Care ministry, the Single and Parenting ministry and the Singles…

Emotional wounds, while not as clearly evident as physical ones, are just as painful and your body reacts to this type of pain as to a physical wound. Some positive person said that "suffering perfects our character." That’s not guaranteed. Some people become meaner and intolerable to live with because of suffering. Oswald Chambers says suffering “only perfects one type of person…the one who accepts the call of God in Christ Jesus.” I’ve known Leta Montague for over ten years. Leta went through the pain of her husband leaving, a divorce and then alienation from family. She hit rock bottom – emotionally, psychologically and sometimes physically. Leta chronicles her journey to forgiveness and healing in her book, "Open Wounds, Open…
