Its that time of year for…resolutions. “2013 will be different.” I will (FILL IN THE BLANK) “lose weight; watch less TV; read the Bible more; make more money; waste less time; pray more; be more organized.” Our spirits may be willing but our flesh is mush. What can make a difference?
Not more will power, because a lack of will power is not a character flaw.
Focus is the key to allowing the Lord to help you become more of the person He wants you to be.
What is one word that sums up who you believe the Lord wants you to be or how He wants to live in 2013; one word that you can focus on every day, all year long.
One word is easy to remember all 365 days of the year. If you’ll let it, your One Word will become the filter through which you see and live your life. It will steer your decisions and guide your steps.
It can be something tangible or intangible. It can be a thought, a feeling, an action, or a character trait. Your word will be something you can reflect on, that will challenge you, that will inspire you.
As you have thought and prayed maybe a word popped right into your head. Maybe you need to let the idea percolate a bit longer. Either way, more often than not, your word finds you.
So…
What do you want to focus on in 2013? Who do you want to be by the end of the year?
Commit to your one word, and let’s walk this road together.
It will take intentionality and commitment, but if you let it, your word will shape you and your year. It will guide your decisions and help you grow.
