Chrome, carnauba wax, and classic cars get your motor running? North Pointe is the place to be on the first Saturday of June 2018.

The parking lot is packed with collectors of classics, admirers, and memories from days gone by at our Annual Cruise Into Summer Show ‘N Shine. You can’t miss the pristine exterior of the cars on display. And the powerful engines under the hoods.

I started thinking about the horsepower available in these restored cars and the power of God’s Spirit.

Horsepower Under The Hood

If you like the look of engines then you’ll love the next couple of pictures. If not, scroll down…

Yesterday’s Power

Maybe its the name “Bob Pilkie” that got my attention.

This beaut had to be pushed, pulled and dragged into the display area. All of the other cars were driven into the parking lot. This one was parked on the sidewalk.

Can you think of people like this antique?

I’m not talking about people who are old in their years but old in their experiences.

Some peoples’ experiences are decades old. The newest thing about their spiritual life is the tag on the windshield indicating they belong.

I never want my spiritual life to resemble the engine of an antique.

An Engine With No Horsepower

Bob’s engine has all the requisite parts – spark plugs, cables, engine cover, crankcase, and manifold. But it has no horsepower. Its useless – other than for people to admire what it used to be.

Even classic cars are meant to be useful not just admired.

The Power Of The Spirit

You can experience the power of the Holy Spirit. Today. And everyday.

How?

1. Ask. Jesus said ask your heavenly Father for the gift of the Holy Spirit and you will receive.

2. Receive. When you ask believe you have been filled with the Spirit. Jesus made very clear God the Father’s generosity in the giving the Holy Spirit to anyone and everyone who asks.

3. Act. Use your horsepower.  The power of the Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit (faith, healing, miracles, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, discerning of spirits, speaking in other tongues, words of prophecy) and the fruit of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, self-control) are IN your life.

Live in the Spirit’s power. Be classic. Show and shine.

APPLICATION: My decision – “I will live in the power of the Holy Spirit every single day for the rest of my life.” Make it your decision every day. Please leave a comment below. Thank you.
