The Book of Revelation is the most controversial book of the Bible.
Its also the only one of the Bible’s sixty six books that promises a blessing to those who read it.
A Missed Blessing
Ironically, Revelation is one of the least read books of the Bible. Why?
Its pages contain crazy images of beasts, judgements, numbers, trumpets, vials, seals and symbols.
Don’t let them deter you from the central revelation of the book – Jesus.
9 Revelations About The Book Of Revelation
The Book of Revelation…
1…is not an almanac of when things will occur or a chronicle of what things have occurred.
2…does not foretell the future, rather it tells how the future is breaking in on the present.
3…is not information about the bad world that we live in or even one of the future.
4…is a study of “last things” or “the end times” (“Eschatology” in technical terms).
5…isn’t intended to inform you of God but to involve you in God.
6…holds no information about Jesus or God’s will and work that isn’t already contained in the previous sixty-five books in the Bible.
7…is comprised of 404 verses containing 518 references to earlier Scripture – every book in the Old Testament is referenced in Revelation.
8…will bring you to your knees in worship, stand you on your feet in faith, empower you to walk in courage.
9…is an opportunity to see Jesus for who He is now.
Reading Revelation For All Its Worth
How can you get the most out of the Book of Revelation? Here’s a plan I’ve used.
Read the book for the purpose of seeing Jesus. Revelation is a revelation of Jesus.
Start at Revelation 1:1 and read to Revelation 22:21 and look for Jesus.
If you have a red letter Bible (the words of Jesus are listed in red) read JUST the red letters.
You’ll hear the voice of Jesus in these words.
When you read something that doesn’t show Jesus to you, just keep reading until you see Jesus again.
Using this plan I’ve found my new favorite book of the Bible. I hope you will too.

I love Revelations! Every time I read it, I learn something new. I’ve done several studies on it in the past and would love to start another. Can you recommend a good study book for me?
I would recommend simply reading the Book of Revelation as per above. Look for Jesus in your reading. When you can’t “find Jesus” just keep reading. I’ve seen the value of the book in an entirely different way by doing this. Try it and let me know what you think.
I love Revelations more every time I read it. I especially love chapter 21 describing The New Jerusalem ( I have recently learned that the Hebrew meaning of Jerusalem is ” you will see the peace of God ” ). Every time I read this chapter it gives me hope.
Last year at this time I had completed reading through the Bible Handbook and followed the suggested reading plan. I would recommend the Bible Handbook for anyone would like to understand Revelations and the entire Bible more. It shows how Jesus is portrayed in very book. In Revelations Jesus is portrayed as Our Triumphant King.
Pastor Bob, upon your suggestion, I just read through the red lettered words in Revelations. It was amazing and described everything that Jesus is. I did hear Him speaking to me. I’m going to do this with other chapters now. Thanks Pastor Bob.
Pastor Bob, thank you for the great encouragement on reading the Book of Revelations. I have read it and reread it but because it is difficult to understand in many areas, I need to spend much more time on the passages. How interesting as you have noted, that on reading this Book in particular, one is provided with significantly more blessings than any of the other ones!
