Slide1Canada is in a crisis, one which most Canadians are unaware.

Its not a crisis of cash based on the latest stock market crash. It is a famine.

A famine that is more dangerous than a lack of food.

It is unfolding in unexpected places – the homes and hearts of Christians.

Canadians in general and surprisingly, Christians in particular, have turned their back on the Bible.

TURNING OUR BACKS OR GETTING BACK TO THE BIBLE

Only 14% of Canadian Christians actually read the Bible at least once per week.  Over 75% of Canadian Christians seldom or NEVER read the Bible.

The Canadian Bible Engagement Study of 2013 revealed that:

  • Confidence in the Bible is at an all-time low.
  • Many Canadian Christians no longer believe that the Bible is the Word of God
  • Some Christians question the reliability and trustworthiness of the Bible

SO WHAT?

The Bible is a hope dispenser.

Your soul needs hope.

A rapidly declining familiarity with the Bible means the national hope level is silently ebbing towards a dangerous low. Without hope there is little wherewithal to face a minor National setback, let alone a major Global catastrophe.

What should you do?

6 X 52

At North Pointe we have encouraged believers to turn the tide.

To follow a plan called 6 x 52.

It calls for believers to read their Bible six days a week – Monday to Saturday – and attend worship services on Sunday where the Word of God will be sung, prayed, preached, believed and obeyed.

Follow the reading plan here.

We offer a course to help people understand what the Bible is all about – “The Bible: What’s In It For Me?

I read my Bible every day and throughout the day. This is what I am currently doing: As soon as I wake I go to the Bible app on my phone. I read the verse of the day and then the chapter of that verse. Soon after that I read the selected Bible readings (in my Bible) from the Bible Handbook. Throughout the week I read through the current Bible Handbook chapter. Each day I will go to my Bible at random times. I will usually read a little before going to bed. I will sometimes listen to the audio Bible. I also like to read through devotional plans from the Bible app. Doing all this is helping me in ways I could not have imagined before. I believe the Bible is God’s Word. I have recently started to pray Bible verses. I am working on living out what I am reading. It is amazing the peace I am seeing in myself. It is serenity. I love the Bible.

That’s a great testament to how important the Bible is to you, Patricia. It is a hope dispenser, a light and life. One of my favourite phrases from Psalms is, “He sent out His Word and healed them.” Psalm 107:20
