Today2

* Do you put off doing things that you need to do?

* Can’t imagine how you could ever deal with so much clutter on your desk or in your closets?

* Don’t know how to choose the perfect work-out program?

* Wanting to read and pray everyday but can’t find the right time?

So you do…nothing.

I’ve been there. Everyone has. But not everyone STOPS there.

The secret to getting ahead is getting started.

5 Commitments To Make To Yourself TODAY:

COMMITMENT #1: Today, I will take responsibility. Nothing in your personal, physical, professional and financial life will change until you start making changes. People are really, really good at self-deception (lying to ourselves keeps us from pain).

The beginning of transformation is a reality check.

The very moment you stop blaming conditions and others for what’s not good in your life is the moment you take back your power to dramatically alter your situation.today4

Take responsibility!

COMMITMENT #2: Today, I will keep pushing forward. A research group uncovered the critical factor that helped a first year group of West Point cadets succeed in a culture that is intended to grind people down.

…it wasn’t their physical aptitude.

…it wasn’t their military abilities.

…it wasn’t their self-discipline.

They referred to the factor as “grit.”

Grit is defined as “the tendency to work strenuously toward challenges, maintaining effort and interest over years despite failure, adversity and plateaus in progress.”

Victims surrender to adversity while achievers exploit it to their advantage.

The Bible lauds gritty perseverance as the foundation of hope – “…endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”today3 Romans 5:4

Tough times never last; tough people do.

Be gritty -keep pushing forward!

COMMITMENT #3: Today, I will get things done. Success doesn’t come to the person who got the brilliant idea but to the performer who got the idea done.

Ideation without execution is mere delusion.

My friend, Tyler Neilsen, wrote a book entitled, “Stop Talking...Get it Done!” He says the secret to getting ahead is getting started.

Talk is cheap.

Action speaks louder.

COMMITMENT #4: Today, I will keep growing. Make the commitment to using every single day as a platform for growth. Remember: the best way to predict the future is to create it.

* Leave everything you touch 1% better.

* Never stop improving your mindset.

* Never stop improving your communication…your fitness…your productivity…your prayer life.

* Grow forward.

COMMITMENT #5: Today, I will become the CEO of my job responsibility. Mark Sanborn in, “The Fred Factor,” relates the story of his postman’s perspective on his job:

“Fred was quite remarkable in attitude, with a warmth and sincerity that were apparent immediately. His dedication to serving his customers made him extraordinary. Over the 10 years that Fred Shea served as my postman I observed him daily put into practice these principles:

  • Everyone makes a difference.
  • Success is built on relationships.
  • You must create value for others.
  • You should reinvent yourself on a regular basis.

Fred was the CEO of his job responsibility.

By bringing passion into your work and life, today, you can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…” Colossians 3:23

Make these 5 commitments to yourself and get started on making today your masterpiece!
