There it was. One sentence. Ten words. The perfect timing.

“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.”

The Power Of Timely Words

I came across the quote when I needed to make a big decision. W.H. Murray, a Scottish mountaineer, penned the words fifty years earlier in his book The Scottish Himalayan Expedition. What he wrote about had nothing to do with what I faced yet it had everything to do with how I could face it.

What the words said to me was, “God won’t move until I take the first step.” I knew the step to take. I needed a nudge to get me going. Murray’s words were the nudge.

I’ve kept the full quote on my desk for over a decade now.

“All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

I like the 4th one about changing the way you look at things and it is something I need to do now in my life. Good way to think about it.

Your life doesn’t get better by chance, it gets better by change. This is my favorite. Like the lady in the movie, “The War Room”. Surrender & Prayer changes you. Doing something different with God & allowing Him to move deeper in my heart, soul, & mind.
Life doesn’t come with a remote, get up a change it yourself.

Don’t fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are right now.
