100 Ways To Create Sticky Faith In Your Family

No part of parenting is easy. Whether we’re responding to our fifteen-month-old’s cries from the crib or our fifteen-year-old’s texts from the mall, we’re constantly improvising. Guessing. Hoping that what we’re doing comes close to what’s best for our kids. Part of that is inevitable. Parenting will always be a messy dance of art and science. But what if there was research that removed at least some of the guesswork about what is best for our kids — both now and long-term? What if we could learn from proven tools and ideas that would help us create a plan for our families? There is a much greater chance kids will stay connected to God if faith is modeled and talked…

Not rain, not snow - just moisture. The air is thick with it – fog; as far as the eye can see. It hides the shore, the sea, all. The silence of this place, this quiet moment is interrupted by another blast of the foghorn, a warning to all…

17 QUOTES FROM THE DR. OF LIFE

Maya Angelou earned her doctorate in life. Her 84 years of living took her across continents, around the globe, through marriages, and into the hearts of social activists, TV icons, Presidents, pastors and ordinary people looking for hope and love. Born Marguerite Anne Johnson on April 4, 1928, she would change her name to "Maya" and later adopt the appellation, “Dr” only because she wanted others to call her “Dr.” "I have studied everything. I spent some time with Zen Buddhism and Judaism and I spent some time with Islam. I found that I really want to be a Christian. When I say, ‘I am a Christian’ I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and…

TIM AND KATHY FOWLER’S STORY Uncategorized

TIM AND KATHY FOWLER’S STORY

This post features Tim Fowler, a writer, photographer and chef. You can experience his creativity on his blogsite, "Scribbles and Snaps."  Tim says "I created this platform to share my experience of constant amazement with bits of our world and slivers of experience, and strive to make photographs and writing reflect those slivers and bits.  My goal is to amuse you, and sometimes make you laugh out loud, to shine a light where shadows exist, to stir emotion, motivate action, think laterally, and to encourage you to experience life more fully through stories told in photographs and pictures painted in words." “My sweet wife has cancer. Its a brutal reality.” Tim Fowler pulled back the curtain on his heart during…

Just Walk Across The Room Uncategorized

Just Walk Across The Room

My wife and I are runners. We’ve completed a 10-miler; a couple of half-marathons and a full marathon. One of the unexpected things I learned to appreciate about running is the "runners culture." The Runners Culture Runners have a culture all their own - language, customs, gear and camaraderie. What I love most about the culture is the runners’ "greeting." When runners encounter runners they ALWAYS acknowledge each other - its one of the rules of running. In passing, they lift a hand to wave, or tip their cap, or offer a “Good morning” or an encouraging, “Keep going!” or the awesome words, “You guys are making it look so easy!” Sometimes its just a smile. Jocelyn and I seldom…

SEEKING ALLAH, FINDING JESUS Uncategorized

SEEKING ALLAH, FINDING JESUS

"Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus" presents a gripping and deeply personal account of Nabeel Qureshi’s journey to faith in Jesus. Qureshi’s story of family, friends, and faith, intertwined with insights into Islam, helped me understand the Muslim world in new ways and see the powerful ways in which God is meeting seekers today. March 7, 2017 - "My family and I have received the news that I have advanced stomach cancer, and the clinical prognosis is quite grim. Nonetheless, we are going to pursue healing aggressively, both medical and miraculous, relying on God and the fact that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. In the past few days my spirits have soared and sank…

10 IRRESISTIBLE ASPECTS OF JERUSALEM Popular

10 IRRESISTIBLE ASPECTS OF JERUSALEM

In January 2014, I sat in Row B at IMAX for a one-of-a-kind, 3D immersion into parts of Jerusalem and the Holy Land that most tourists and pilgrims never see. I was hooked. Over the past three decades I've always declined invitations to lead a tour to Israel. Not that I don't revere "the Holy Land" but I never felt compelled to travel there. Now, Jerusalem had become irresistible. Within a week of viewing the film we booked a tour to Israel and Jordan with International Tours. We're going back again in March 2019 and you could join us. 10 Irresistible Things About Israel and Jerusalem 1. Jerusalem, not Toronto, is the center of the Universe. Jerusalem lies close to…

A Personal Relationship with Jesus Uncategorized

A Personal Relationship with Jesus

North Pointe exists to see a personal relationship with Jesus grow in everyone; everyday. Having a personal relationship with Jesus is not a trite or trivialized idea  - its God's idea. Don't miss the profound in the familiar words of John 3:16 - "...God so loved the world..." That's a love for a world of people - a love that is personal. God wants a relationship with YOU. A healthy relationship is based on: 1. TRUST Trust is conditional. "I trust you because..." is a reasonable perspective. God is trustworthy because He is the loving Creator. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. He knew you before you were born. He numbers all of your days and the hairs on your…
