Over the years, I’ve heard the phrase “God is in the business of changing hearts” repeated countless times, and I am living proof that God does exactly that.
Music has always been an important part of my life, and I’ve been passionate about its every aspect. Many of my fondest memories are of learning to play new instruments, having jam sessions with friends, and more.
This guest post is from Daniela Martins. Daniela followed her heart to Australia on January 19th, 2016 to pursue ministry development at Hillsong International College. She started leading worship on Sunday mornings at North Pointe when she was just 17 years old. That says a lot about her and Pastor Sean Morton for empowering youth with the opportunity to serve in the area of their giftings.
AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE DIVINE
Up to the beginning of my teenage years I wanted absolutely nothing to do with a career in ministry. I was striving for the kind of success that drew recognition, wealth, and status.
My family had been attending North Pointe for just over two years and though I was a part of Anomaly Youth, I wasn’t very connected in other ministry areas. However, a powerful encounter with God at fourteen completely altered my life, and set me on the road to where I am today.
In one instant, my perspective had been transformed forever.
I came to understand that for me, music was more than a mere hobby. As I pursued the Father’s heart, I realized that the very desire, and ability to create music was deliberately placed within me to glorify His name. This is the basis upon which worship is founded – glorifying the name of the Lord.
WORSHIP MINISTRY
Recently, I have been heavily involved in the worship and creative arts ministry at North Pointe. On Sunday mornings, I can usually be found onstage either leading worship, or as a part of the band. I am also very integrated within Anomaly Youth, assisting with the Friday night services, in addition to serving as a small group leader.
I am following a call to ministry in Australia as I attend Hillsong International Leadership College, to become trained and equipped to pursue what the Lord has planned for me.
In addition to having hands-on, practical ministry experience, I will be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Theology.
INTO THE UNKNOWN WITH GOD
As I prepare to venture into the unknown, I have taken great comfort in knowing that every phase of this journey has been orchestrated by God. He is by my side in each moment.
Though moving across the world at eighteen is certainly unconventional, and quite daunting, I believe that this is exactly where I need to be. By doing what I love, and stepping out in faith, I have been given the opportunity to inspire and awaken the hearts of others.
Words fail to express the magnitude of excitement that grows with each passing day, as I get closer & closer to beginning this adventure.

I absolutely love when I see Daniela up on stage leading worship. I’m always excited because I think, “This is going to be good!” Pretty amazing to follow the call of God and study in Australia. Very courageous.
Agreed.
