We are witnesses to a level of global unity against an aggressor that is unprecedented in our lifetimes and Canada is at the forefront.
Ms Freeland
Is there a foreign leader better positioned than Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland? Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the Ukrainian Churchill. Freeland is the Canadian Roosevelt. She is articulating Canada’s response to Russia’s invasion of her Ukrainian homeland with a passionate resolve. Ms Freeland is the right person in the right place. There is a sense that she is fighting for her life.
The Deputy Prime Minister played a key role in getting sanctions on Russia’s central bank in place. She has been a leading voice against Russian aggression as a vocal member of the country’s large Ukrainian community.
Her grandparents were born in Ukraine. Her mother, Halyna Chomiak Freeland, helped draft the inaugural Ukrainian constitution.
This humanitarian horror is no time for partisan politics. Over one million people fled Ukraine in the first week. Leaders in the Canadian government have made it easy to rally round their use of our tax dollars.
We stand with Freeland.
Canadian Efforts
On February 22nd, Canada shipped $7.8 million worth of lethal weapons, including handguns, machine-guns and carbines.
Canada offered a loan of up to $500 million to the Government of Ukraine.
On February 23rd Canada condemned in the strongest possible terms Russia’s egregious attack on Ukraine.
Canada targeted 62 individuals and entities, including members of the Russian elite, their family members and major Russian banks.
Canada directed financial firepower at members of the Russian Security Council, including the country’s defence, finance and justice ministers.
New export permits stopped for Russia-bound products and existing permits were cancelled.
Canada Also:
banned Russian airlines from Canadian airspace.
supplied body armour, helmets, gas masks, night vision goggles, anti-tank weapons systems, 2,500 rockets and upgraded ammunition.
provided $100 million in funding for humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine and those who have been forced to flee to neighbouring countries.
banned Russian oil imports.
Freedom
The people of Ukraine are today showing the incredible strength of a free people fighting for their democracy.
What can you do? Jocelyn and I are helping children, thrown into chaos. Their classrooms have been replaced by bomb shelters. Their playgrounds have become battlefields. The hard ground has become their beds. You can send support through Emergency Relief and Development Overseas.
How are you supporting Ukraine? What do you think about how the Canadian government is supporting Ukraine? Could we do more? Please leave a comment below.

I’m curious about what would cause you to not only acknowledge Ms Freeland but actually praise her. Some known facts about her are that she is a graduate of the World Economic Forum, as well as on the board of the World Economic Forum. Are you aware of what the World Economic Forum believes in and where they are trying to take our world? Are you aware of their goals for 2030 and who Klaus schwab is?
It appears that you are praising the lockdown of Canadian citizens bank accounts for standing up for the worlds freedoms.
Another interesting fact is that Ms Freeland’s grandfather was a Ukrainian nazi sympathizer (editor of a pro nazi newsletter)
whom you also praised ?
I look forward to your response .
Hi Janelle. Yes, I do know she is a trustee with the WEF. My purpose in including the Deputy Prime Minister in the post was to acknowledge her role in representing Canada in standing with Ukraine. We still have a long way to go and more to be done on that front. When I wrote, “We stand with Freeland” that was my way of saying, “Pray for all in authority so that we can live peaceful lives…” 1 Timothy 2:2. I am not much into politics but I am into prayer. I did read about her grandfather. I am intrigued by her silence on articles criticizing her silence. I referred to her mother but not her grandfather in the post.
I am informed about some ideas the WEF represents but I am not an expert on the WEF by any means. I heard of The Great Reset and the book Klaus Schwab wrote. As far as I can see, the main criticism is that the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset” represents a socialist (or some say communist), globalist conspiracy in which a small transnational, unelected elite are cooking up a self-serving agenda for global control. I know that some Christians see in the WEF the spectre of world government or a new world order and identifying it with the Antichrist. I am informed by what Chris Watkin has to say about the WEF here. https://au.thegospelcoalition.org/article/five-questions-christians-should-ask-about-the-great-reset/
In many ways the world today is unlike the world you and I have known in our lifetime. And in some ways it is just like the world has been since the Fall. We have experienced a unique era of relative peace and prosperity in North America. It is telling that some see our version of life in the West as decadent. I still see the local church as the hope of the world.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Janelle. I trust my response was helpful. Fond memories of your work at Harisma among many other things. Faith, hope, and love to you.
