Life is measured in moments. We don’t remember days, we remember moments. Ordinary moments can have extraordinary outcomes.
Moments
The post was written for writers. The Inscribe Writers’ editor calls this “a powerful inspiration for all writers.” I shared my story and the stories of moments in the lives of four famous writers. Really, the content is applicable to life.
We don’t remember days. We remember moments.
“Defining moments shape our lives, but we don’t have to wait for them to happen. We can be the authors of them.”
And you can be the author of a “moment” for others.
A few minutes can change a life
How hard is it to recognize the good work of people?
Expressed gratitude can be the best part of a recipient’s day.
Your Invitation
Write a letter of gratitude to an individual and deliver it in person. This letter should be concrete and about 250-300 words – be specific about the other person and how they affected your life. Mention what you are doing now and mention how you often remember what she or he did.
Researchers suggest if you conduct a gratitude visit you feel a rush of happiness afterwards.
If you knew you could make a positive difference in someone’s life, that you could create a memory for them that would last for years – and it would take a trivial amount of time on your behalf – would you?

My friend of many years was living on Gabriola island off the coast of Vancouver. She was living on a 25 foot sailboat with her husband and young son. We all decided to go skinny dipping off the side of the boat. Afterward my friend made us all hot chocolate. It was the middle of summer .
A moment I remember fondly and not likely to ever forget. I was so cognizant of her memory making ability that it changed me from that moment forward .
