Courage is a curious thing. Those who appear courageous wish they didn’t because it means they’ve had to face something that nearly scared the life out of them. They’ve come through hell. Or maybe they’re still on the journey.

Courageous

Courage is not something that you already have that makes you brave enough to face tough times. Its what you learn as you go through tough times. Its a badge people wish they didn’t have to wear. Courage isn’t always welcomed but it is always needed. Here’s to my many friends courageously facing cancer, the death of a loved one, the end of a marriage, dismissal from a job, the darkness of depression, or the desire to quit.

My favorite quote is, “Be the change you want to see in the world”. (Mother Theresa, I believe.)
Psalm 31:24 – Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart all you who hope in the Lord.

Thanks for sharing that quote. “Being the change” will draw courage out of people.

  • Maria Boonstra says:

True courage is relying 100% on God. When we stand firm on our faith, and not give into our fear, even when circumstances look truly impossible, He promises us that “nothing is impossible with God” Luke 1:47. In the middle of our greatest storm, when we call out to Him, He fights for us. We can try to fight on our own and end up bruised and defeated. When we turn our circumstances over to the One who defeated the grave we are victorious and, more importantly, never alone.

I agree whole heartedly with #6,12,13,16. I just as wholeheartedly disagree with #15. Interesting!

#15 is an interesting perspective. Glad you are growing in the courage that responding to Scripture can provide.

  • Evelyn Kozak says:

3, 5 & 7 have been sources of encouragement and peace countless times over my lifetime

I looked at this again. Mandel is bang on and Toilkin.
The one word from the Lord for me was, ‘I promise I will never forsake you nor leave you begging for bread”
I have learned when I need the courage, the Holy Spirit brings that scripture, particularly, to my mind, I gain my courage as needed by the power of the Holy Spirit and because God, my Heavenly Father loves me more than anyone else could love me. Through all this courage arises within me because of the sacrifice of my Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the cross so that I might live in eternity, with Him. Thank you Lord.
