Visiting a church for the first time can be an adventure.

Its nice to know what to expect, right? You’d love to ask, but you’re not sure who to ask or even if your question sounds silly.

6 Frequently Asked Questions About Visiting North Pointe

1. What should I wear?

We are a “come as you are” church. You’ll see all kinds of people and all kinds of styles. Some will wear a suit and tie (men or women). Some will wear a dress (women). Some will wear jeans and t-shirts. You may even see shorts (even if the weather isn’t warm enough – its Edmonton, eh).

2. What will we do? What can I expect?

Show up early and grab a latte or tea, or hot chocolate made by our baristas at our Coffee Bar. You can bring your beverage into the service. Do you have children ages birth to Grade 5? See #5 below.

We start with celebration – singers and a full rock band. We take time every Sunday to lead in prayer for needs in our church, community and our world.  There will be a message from the Bible that will be understandable and practical.

In case you’re wondering, we will receive an offering. Our offerings support the full range of programs we offer at North Pointe, in the community, and around the world. As our guest you are not expected to participate during this time.np

3. Will you embarrass me?

We certainly hope not. It will be a primary goal not to do that. You WILL NOT be singled out as a guest. We don’t make guests stand, raise their hand, or even fill out a card if you choose not to do so.

4. What time should I arrive?

We have ample parking and seating. Our service times on Sunday are 9:30am, 11:00am and 12:30pm – the same music, message and support ministries in each service.

We suggest you get here a few minutes early. It takes a little while to make your way through our building, especially if you have children to check into our children’s areas or this is your first time. Once you do, visit our Coffee Bar (see above).

5. Do you have something for children?

Absolutely. Children, birth through Grade 5, have their own activities designed especially for them. They will enjoy an experience that will engage them at their level. Of course, you can bring your children with you to the adult gathering if that is more comfortable on a first visit, but our experience is that they truly do enjoy the program designed for them.

We have secure and easy ways to check your children in with our trained and caring volunteers. We supply pagers for parents of children birth to age 3 to alert you to any needs.

And we have a program for Grade 6-8 students during the message.

6. Can I only come one time? What am I signing up for when I come on a Sunday?

There’s no obligation beyond one Sunday. It’s a “free look.” Promise. We will invite you to fill out a Welcome Card and, if you do, we will follow up with you. We won’t put any unfair pressure on you to ever come again. We hope you will, and we’d love it if your experience triggered that desire in you, but that’s your call — not ours.

North Pointe hosts services in two different locations on our campus.

At 9:30am and 11:00am we hold a #southendservice in our south auditorium. A band leads worship and we live stream the message using a large LED wall. The service is hosted by one of our pastors.

People describe this as “church for those who don’t go to church.” Its informal. One attendee commented, “It has a ‘grassroots’ feel to it.” Its new and exciting!

Looking forward to seeing you soon on a Sunday morning at North Pointe!
