There’s a verse in the New Testament that I always think of when I see trauma and darkness in the world.

A Bigger Storyline

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”  (Ephesians 6:12, NIV)

A storyline is happening that is so much bigger than the world conflicts we see in the daily news. This is the story behind the stories in the Middle East and in Ukraine. That story is much larger than anything we are living through. It is storyline from before the world began, when all that existed was God and his angels in eternity, a place without time. Our world was created in time as a temporal place for humans, created in the image of God to glorify and worship their Creator.

War, Easter and Evil

There was a rebellion in eternity against God by Satan and one third of the angels; a war that continues to this day on earth. God against evil. God has already won the battle through Jesus. That’s what Easter and God so loving the world is all about.

What we need to understand about our present darkness is that our battle is not against dictators or governments; it is against principalities, powers, and forces of evil. They are real. Their weapons are fear and lies. We are called to use weapons not of our making.

To act in love and truth. Be alert. Pray. See beyond the battle or the person.

God wins. Good wins. Evil is already defeated.

Please join me in praying against evil in the world, and particularly Ukraine. Pray back the darkness. Pray for the good and pray down blessing.

I will be in eastern Ukraine as you read this. I’m grateful for your support and prayers.

Good wins.
