I was invited to a Zoom prayer meeting with 37 leaders to prayer for Ukraine on March 3rd.
Intensity
One thing is certain: Ukrainian Christian leaders are passionate in praying. The intensity was tangible. I suppose when bombs and rockets are going off around you, they amplify the fervency of your prayers.
Here’s what they prayed for. My translator posted these in the Chat area.
- Influence over all areas of our society.
- Loud voice of a church in politics.
- Honest and good workmanship, worthy church behaviour and influence.
- Development of missionaries.
- Wisdom, blessings, support for pastors and missionaries.
- Releasing finances and taking care of the needs of the ministers.
- Sensibility to the Holy Spirit in preaching in power of the Holy Spirit.
- The formation of the culture of dedication and service to God.
- Protection over health, blessings over lives of God’s servants.
- For the true peace and victory for Ukraine.
- For wisdom for the president and the government.
- For the protection, blessings over the army.
- Allies, protection in providing safety and long-term support.
- For the rebirth of the country (restoring, rebuilding, strengthened).
- The spiritual awakening of the country, all the regions.
- For the strength of the military and each of the soldiers.
- Trusting only God and trust the Lord.
My Prayer for Ukraine
I was asked to close in prayer. That morning, I had written down a prayer that I pray often for Ukraine. It became the basis for my prayer for them.
Heavenly Father,
You are sovereign over all things.
We ask, your kingdom come,
your will be done in Ukraine as it is in heaven.
We seek Your mercy and peace
and declare your Words of life over Ukraine.
We believe for an end to the suffering,
And violence, and destruction.
Let Your healing to cover this land,
to bring peace to every heart,
and hope to every soul.
We ask that You touch the hearts of all who are part of this conflict.
Defeat the plans of the enemy
bring an end to this hatred and violence.
Lord, we pray for the leaders of Ukraine
and all those in positions of power,
that their hearts would turn toward heaven.
Grant them wisdom, and courage,
Keep them from the temptation of power and corruption.
Give a resolute desire for peace.
Guide them to make choices that protect the innocent,
and restore harmony,
and rebuild what has been lost.
For Leaders
Give wisdom and strength to every church leader in Ukraine.
Assure them that they are not alone.
They are seen and known by you, Lord
and are supported by believers around the world.
Their prayers and cries are heard
and God is answering them.
Work by your spirit to bring deliverance to those in addiction.
Bring healing to those suffering trauma.
We thank you that Your comfort surrounds those who mourn and grieve.
May Your light shine brightly in these dark times.
Bring strength to those who need it most.
We pray for reconciliation,
that hearts would be open,
that the spirit of unity and understanding would overcome division.
May Your peace,
which surpasses all understanding,
fill every community in Ukraine
and bring a future of hope and restoration.
We trust in Your power, Lord,
We hold onto the conviction
that lasting peace will come through Your grace.
Hope grows here. We share stories that inspire people, build faith, and offer lasting purpose.

Good Morning Pastor Bob. That is a wonderful prayer for the Ukraine. It’s disheartening to watch what is happening every day. Trump’s lies are just tiresome…it’s hard to stomach. After playing “chicken” with our country…he finally realizes Canada & its citizens are not backing down. That’s why he has stopped the tariffs on the major car companies. Trump knows that those tariffs are not going to be good for his country either. He is causing so much chaos & making enemies with all of the allies. I guess one good thing coming out of his actions…it is bringing the World together. Thank you for sharing this blog with us. Have a great weekend. ❤️ “Elbows up”!
Thank for always going first, Julie. It’s hard not to think that we face tariffs and Ukrainians face rockets from a neighbour. Both countries respond with elbows up.
Your heart’s voice comes out in words. Sometimes I am at a total loss for words when I pray even though I am burdened for the situation. Thank you for praying this prayer. I have copied it to my phone and will use it as I continue to pray for Ukraine.
Thank you, Retha. Hopefully the wording provides a basis for other people’s prauers.
Agree with all the above! Our great consolation is that God IS in charge! It is ALL in His control. And He WILL bring ALL things together for good. “In His time, in His time. He makes all things beautiful, in His time. Lord, please show me every day, as You’re teaching me Your way, that You do just what You say, in Your time.”
Thank you for commenting for the first time. Keep praying and leaning in.
