Thousands of North Korean troops joined Russia’s war against Ukraine, positioned 30km from the Ukraine border. The arrival of North Korean soldiers on the battlefields of Europe is an historically unprecedented event that represents a major escalation in the largest European invasion since World War II.
What has been the US, Canada and Europe’s reaction?
Strikingly muted.
Could this lack of resolve be exactly what Russia was counting on?
Russian Moves in Europe
- Russia aligns with Brazil, India, China, and South Africa – BRICS
- Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. No response.
- Russia took over Crimea. No intervention.
- Russia started a separatist war in eastern Ukraine. Silence.
- Russia launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Bark but no teeth.
- North Korea supplies Russia with ammunition and missiles in 2022. Silence.
- Russia declared in 2023 that 20% of Ukraine was now forever Russia’s.
- In 2024, 50% of all shells used against Ukraine are supplied by North Korea.
- North Korean troops enter the battlefield in November 2024.
If nothing else, the West is consistent. Ukraine’s allies have insisted on avoiding anything that might be used by Russia as an excuse to escalate.
Do you see a parallel from nine decades ago?
Nazi Germany Moves
In 1938, the British nor the Americans wanted war with Nazi Germany. Appeasement was the lead step.
- November 1, 1936 Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy signed a treaty of cooperation.
- November 25, 1936 Nazi Germany and Japan signed the Anti-Comintern Pact
- March 13, 1938 Nazi Germany incorporated Austria.
- March 15, 1939 Nazi Germany invaded Czechoslovakia
- September 1, 1939 Nazi Germany invaded Poland
- September 10, 1939 Canada declares war on Nazi Germany
- April – June 1940, Nazi Germany invaded Denmark and Norway
- May – June 1940, Nazi Germany invades France, Belgium, and the Netherlands
- July – October 1940 Nazi Germany attacks Great Britain from the air
- April – June 1941 Nazi Germany invades Yugoslavia and Greece
At the time, US citizens supported Britain and Nazi Germany.
The US supplied Britain with destroyers and armaments.
When Japan attacked Pearl Harbour on Sunday December 7, 1941, the US declared war on Japan the next day and on Germany on December 11th.
