“You have my blessing.”  Sounds kinda old fashioned but there is incredible power in a blessing that moderns need. And the blessing’s not just for marriages.

What You’ve Always Wanted

A blessing is a good and perfect gift from God that comes through a person of significance.

Think of it as getting better than what you’ve always wanted.

4 Expressions of Blessing

A “blessing” is a word spoken for good that carries spiritual power and authority, and that sets in motion supernatural outcomes.

Gary Smalley and John Trent wrote a book called The Blessing, in which they presented four distinct expressions of blessings.

  1. Meaningful Touch
Touch imparts and releases life, warmth, compassion, and blessing. Pastors will impart a blessing through placing a hand gently on a person’s shoulder or taking hold of their hand in prayer. We anoint each person with oil as a touch point according to James 5:13 – “…pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master.”
  1. A Spoken Word
Along with meaningful touch, words convey blessings in an especially powerful way. Spoken blessings tap into God’s thoughts and feelings for the person, place, or situation.
  1. Attaching High Value To The One Being Blessed
Words plus meaningful touch are not a blessing unless high value is attached to the person being blessed. Life-giving words give honor to the person being blessed. It is our pleasure as pastors to pray for you. We love you.
  1. Picturing A Special Future
Blessings give you a glimpse of favor for the future. Blessings help propel you into your destiny. You will be able to envision the future with hope and joy.

blessing2Especially For You

If you didn’t receive a blessing from your parents, or words of encouragement – I want to encourage you with this: Blessings abound.

Receive what God has especially for you. He has placed you on this earth in the very family, country, city, and church to accomplish the purposes He has prepared in advance for you to do.

That’s the adventure of faith we call you into.

  • Hi there
My name is Jenni Wright and I live in Adelaide, South Australia.

I came across this article while researching blessings. I want to put together a book of blessings and this wold make a great part of the introduction. It will be an e-book and anyone contributing would be fully acknowledged.

Please let me know if you would allow me to use this article. Also, if you have any lovely blessings (not prayers) that you or someone you know would like to share with me, that would be wonderful.

    Blessings

Hello Jenni. Or should I say “G’day!” Great to hear from you. By all means you could use this as part of the introduction of your book. I will keep you in mind when it comes to blessings.
