People in Ukraine are rightly concerned that shipments of air defence missiles have been stopped by the Trump administration. The boom outside our window was evidence of that.
No doubt you read that Russia ramped up missile attacks, and the US halted promised air defence shipments to Ukraine.
On June 23rd we travelled on a highway from Kyiv to Lutsk. We passed through the city of Zhytomyr. That highway closed on July 2nd because of a massive explosion.
On July 3rd we woke up to a thunderous BOOM followed by two more explosions. Our building shook. People gathered outside our apartment, hugging and crying. Ambulances and firetrucks raced by, sirens blaring.
Poltava was relatively untouched until two weeks ago. Russian aggression intensified more than any other time in the war. Troops are massing on the border, bolstered by North Koreans soldiers.
Our friends are concerned.
The Kremlin welcomed the pause in US arms shipments. “The fewer weapons that are supplied to Ukraine, the closer the end of the Russia-Ukraine war.” That’s not good news for Ukraine.
Ukrainians believe that any delay or hesitation in supporting Ukraine’s defence capabilities will only encourage Russia to continue war and terror, rather than pursue peace. I don’t blame them.

What can you do? Pray for Ukraine. Write your MP and thank them that Canada sent $1.7 US billion from revenues generated from frozen Russian assets.
