When your host nonchalantly explains over dinner that the day before there was a drone attack just down the street from the restaurant.

If there is a drone we must be in Ukraine.

We were finishing a wonderful dinner with friends and a Ukrainian pastor and his family in Zaporizhzhia. He commented on our not being afraid to come to his city in Eastern Ukraine. He explained that the day before there was an attack just down the street from our restaurant.

Three drones launched into a warehouse containing 100+ tons of humanitarian aid. Hygiene products, clothes, food and cars were burned. Approximately $3 million dollars worth of aid. The fire lasted for over six hours.

Makes me mad.

But I can’t stay mad because that doesn’t do any good. Especially when these pastors are now trying to figure out how to help thousands of refugees that they help feed.

We had just come from the fourth service in the 4th community in the last two days. The last one was SRO and people had arrived 60+ minutes before the service started. The worship is joyful and hopeful. But that’s what faith in God produces.

Humbling

The day before we were invited by chaplains to accompany them to a military hospital. We visited and prayed with wounded soldiers and civilians.

We spoke at two church plants.

A second church plant.

The trip has been a whirlwind but an unforgettable experience for us. People have showered Jocelyn with kindness.

Foreigners, especially Canadians in Ukraine are  so appreciated now.

There will be peace in Ukraine. they believe for that. But it is people who came in war time that are remembered. It’s our privilege to be sent to serve here.

(As I typed this there was a drone intercept not very far from here. The sound of bang, bang, bang, boom and another drone goes down.)

Please keep praying.

And if you would, support the work here. Churches are reaching out to children to give them joy in the midst of all this. Designate your giving with Loads of Love to B&J Ukraine Ministry and include the word “camp” in the message section.

Thank you!

Hope grows here.  We share stories that inspire people, build faith, and offer lasting purpose.
