We’ve just come through a pandemic. And we are probably not “through.”
There is war in Ukraine.
Inflation is going up, interest rates are going up, and the economy is going down.
We are facing a climate crisis.
Political and cultural division is increasing.
There has never been better medical, educational, social, emotional support for people.
So, is the world getting better or worse?

Wow! That is a difficult question to answer Pastor Bob. Some issues are getting worse…like the intolerance & anger that exists with some. The division that has been created by politics & others. The world has seemingly become insane, where kindness & empathy has been thrown out the door. I was disappointed & disillusioned by a recent experience of my own. Where I saw & heard things I didn’t want to see or experience. We all go through life experiences like this. It only serves us to become stronger & to realize that we are only in control of our own beliefs & behaviours. Integrity is the most important to me & I will strive to be honest, kind, & empathetic…regardless of what situation I find myself in. Positivity in life is important too…I find that laughing is the best medicine. Life will get better as people find happiness, joy & gratitude in their own lives. When you are happy you will exude that energy. It doesn’t mean you don’t have any struggles in life…we all have our own problems. It just means being content & appreciative of what you do have, & not dwelling on what you don’t have.
I think that morally and ethically from a biblical viewpoint that the world is getting worse. Our governments in the US and Canada are trying to take control of the masses by pushing an evil agenda that would destroy Christianity. We need a Jesus revival to fix our growing problems, not more politician’s.
Thank you for asking Bob. The world is following along a predictable path. Long ago it came under the influence of the Evil One. So it continues along that storyline. The present day I think though is earmarked by its fury. Maybe his (and his minions) time has really come. The torment of the abyss is why the demons begged Jesus to send them into the pigs.
However there is a larger story. Like a Divine Conspiracy Dallas Willard called it. And we are invited into that Story. I think there are two very significant events at play in our time. The Gospel is penetrating every people group. We are fast approaching the fulfillment of that sure prophecy. Yet, there is also a great falling away. The last two years are being exploited by those minions to rob even Gods elect of their Faith. A disappointment with God.
We must be aware of our times. Do good to all people, but especially those of the household of faith. Come alongside others. Encourage one another as we see the day approaching. Hope is the foundation. Faith and love will find its way through …

I agree with Julie and Wayne’s interpretations of where we are at and also what our approach should be moving forward. With that, I am reminded by author James Clear to just “keep trying”. It’s what we dwell on that will move our reality. So I choose to dwell on faith, hope, and love, and to keep trying.
The world is changing and God loves this world. I also believe I have a responsibility within those two truths. Based on this foundation, I wake up with confidence that a loving God is involved in a changing world and he does good work.
Big picture- The world is getting better and I get to be a part of that change.

I choose to remain grounded in the promise that God has already seen the end of this age and He will be glorified no matter who is president or prime minister. Even with all the divisiveness I have seen in churches , I have also seen a desire to reach communities for Him. He has set us apart for His works but that might mean something different to each one of us. Yes the world has become a frightfully self centred place but I imagine there have been times in the past that society seemed very morally bankrupt. We can only hope to be the beacons of hope God has called us to be .
Wow, Stephen and I were just talking about this. Did our parents think the world was getting worse when we were young too?
We came to the conclusion that there was just as much fear in the world but today we actually see the things we fear happening. Our fear is not built on the “ what if” but built in the “ what is”.
Yet God is still in control and still on the throne! Glory be to God in the highest!
