Thank you.

The smiley face with sunglasses was a gift from a child on our last day at North Pointe.

It reminds us to live and lead with the attitude of a child. Children are dreamers with big imaginations.  Our grandkids remind us of that. They act like super-heroes who do feats but don’t settle for defeat.

Lovingly Grateful

No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. I’d like to think I’ve had some success as a pastor. There are many people on whom I have depended, none more so than Jocelyn.

There is no quit in this woman.

She is my super hero.

Far too often I’ve been oblivious to the obvious – especially when it comes to Jocelyn.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Saying thank you and expressing genuine gratitude is one the most overlooked, yet powerful tools of successful leadership.

The attitude of gratitude will give your life altitude. (Jocelyn calls that phrase a “bobism”)

So grateful to all who gathered for the REVs celebration at North Pointe on March 17th. #blessed

Jocelyn’s Bobisms

Jocelyn collects what she calls “Bobisms” – things she’s heard over the decades.

I am a turtle on a fence post. When you see a turtle on a fence post you know he didn’t get there on his own.

For every setback God will give you a greater comeback.

Discipleship is a marathon not a sprint. Stamina, not speed is required.

Tenacity, grit and perseverance are the friends of faith.

The power to change is the power of choice.

Delays are not God’s denials.

What happens after you use faith is when the fun starts.

Revealing your feeling is the beginning of healing.

Bob’s favorite snack…
Settle early.
Never, ever, ever, ever, quit.
Attitude is supernal.
Character is eternal.
Kneel to rise.

To live dangerously is not to live recklessly but to live righteously.

Don’t keep the faith. Share it.

People are doing the best they can.

It’s always too soon to quit.

Finish well.

Grateful for friends like Nadine Burden and their timely words and photos.

“Sometimes it feels like the path ahead isn’t easy to see but at some point the sun will light it up.”

Last Word

When you are at the end of your rope, take five and remember…
Focus on what you have not what you lack.
Include others in your journey.
Venture forth in faith.
Expect to stall, not to fall.

Grateful for so many. Yet, the one that comes to mind fast is my mom. Grace, forgiveness, understanding , generosity , unconditional love, compassion -just to name a few things she is always teaching me. So thankful she came to Northpointe and had the opportunity to give her heart to Christ here. The best gift ever.

This Blog should be full kind of like an answering machine. You have given me hope when I have had none, you have made me smile when all I wanted to do was cry you have been caring when I have felt utterly unlikable. Bob I Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your presents in the room even when you don’t say a thing for your few kind words and not a ten page speech, for your overwhelming love that exudes from you the way I image it did from Jesus when he was on earth and people could just “feel” it. You exemplify Him so much it’s hard to type when you can’t see the keyboard. Please don’t let your goodbye to NorthPointe be also to the rest of your flock. We still need to have friends like you in our lives that give us hope, encouragement and wisdom.
    Thank you so very much,
Your friend in Christ Brian Glover

Thank you Brian. I am going to work hard not to lose touch with you and pray for you everyday and believe along with you and Sue for a turnaround in your health.

Yes to your comment about your mom, Adena. I hope we can at least stay in touch through this blog and WRR for Hope.

  • Sharon Murphy says:

Pastor Bob, I sincerely wish you and Jocelyn all the best in your future, and wish to thank you so much for your encouraging and supportive leadership to this church family. The first time I walked into Central Pentacostal years ago, I felt like I was ‘home’, and that feeling is still as strong as ever. Over the years you’ve dispensed many, many gold nuggets of encouragement and wisdom that have changed my perspective and kept my spritual life growing. You were there for my family during a terrible tragedy, and I can’t even begin to express how grateful we are. I’ve always loved the worship, communion and prayers, special occasions like Easter, and your heartfelt, wise, encouraging messages, always delivered with so much heart and a good dab of humour : ) Thank you so much — you are much appreciated!

Thank you so much, Sharon for reaching out. It was a privilege to be a pastor to you and your family. Your good news story is good for me. I hope we can keep the conversation going here at REVwords. God bless.
