One recurring dream haunts me. While the circumstances and characters change, the message always remains the same:
“You
are
alone.
You have always been alone, and you always will be alone.”
I Cry Out For Help But No One Hears
Sheila Walsh, singer, popular TV host and author says, “Most mornings I wake from this nightmare, shake off the worst of it, pour myself a cup of hot coffee, and embrace the new day. But sometimes the dream leaves dark little fingerprints, smudges not so easily brushed away that seem to cling to me for hours.
The dream has hounded me since childhood. I see myself walking down a corridor to an execution chamber, about to be put to death for a crime I did not commit. Through the glass walls of the corridor I can see family and friends talking to each other, laughing and telling stories. I cry out to them for help . . . but somehow, no one can hear me.
So why does the dream still stalk me, even after all these years? Old wounds, unfortunately, carry profound memories. In the moments just after I awake, pausing as my heartbeat returns to normal, I thank God that although I am not “fixed,” I am loved.”
It’s Okay To Not Be Okay
It really is okay not to be okay.
Do you dare to believe that?
Would you dare to bring all the broken pieces of your life—with the remnants of old wounds and stubborn nightmares—to God and let Him do what only He can do? I pray that you would know—down to the marrow of your bones – that God loves you with a fierce and undying passion, that you are not alone, and that He has committed Himself with all His omnipotent power to getting you safely all the way home.
“If I could write only one book in my lifetime, I would ask God to make it this one. The message of this book is my life’s passion.”
God’s Love
I believe with everything in me that God loves broken people, and that when somewhere in the painful process of that breaking and bruising we find a way to welcome Him into the darkness, we come to know His love in a way we have never known before.
And that, my friend, is no small thing.
You can win this battle. I know you can, because I’ve met countless people who are doing exactly that. To help you get started on the right path, I’d like to give you three action steps. Not enough, perhaps, for you to obliterate the enemy and declare victory, but enough to begin turning the tide of war.”
3 Steps Toward Wholeness
1. Talk to yourself. Talking to yourself is normal. Just make sure that you say the right things.
The first step toward hope is to recognize that you really do speak to your own soul. So make up your mind to speak only true words!
2. Surround yourself with loving people who will remind you of the truth.
Surround yourself with people who will speak the truth, in love, to your soul. And let that truth transform your mind and renew your life.
3. Fill your mind with truth from God’s heart.
Dwell on who God says He is (and who He is for you).
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 ESV)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)
