Living an honourable life is twice as good as any other way of living. Good as you live it and good as you reflect on your life.

Jocelyn showed me a warning text on her phone from our bank. More accurately, the text came from someone pretending to be from our bank. She was concerned. I was angry.

Usually, I take things like this in stride, delete them, and move on. But I’ve also been reading about seniors who have been scammed out of a lot of money. Scammers play off of fear and threat. I got agitated about people who have nothing better to do than prey on others and try and make their life miserable.

That’s devilish.

Readers of REVwords work hard at living an honourable life in trying times. Good on you. An honourable life turns things intended for bad into something good. Like the number thirteen.

13 Principles For Honourable Service

1. Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.

2. The best sermons are lived, not preached.

3. If you don’t take the time to do it right, you’ll find the time to do it twice.

4. It doesn’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.

5. You cannot unsay a cruel word.

6. Every path has a few puddles.

7. Silence is sometimes the best answer.

8. Live simply.

9. Love generously.

10. Care deeply.

11. Speak kindly.

12. Leave the rest to God.

13. Live in such a way that the preacher won’t have to lie at your funeral.

Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.

“Worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” 1 Peter 3:15 (NLT)
