Ukraine has made it clear that it does not want peace… at any price.

The war in Ukraine is not just about Ukraine, it’s about how the world responds when a powerful country decides it can simply take what it wants. Ukraine is the front line of freedom.

How The War Started

This four-year-old war is not a conflict both sides share blame for.

The war began in 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea and the eastern oblasts. In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a sovereign democratic country, in a blatant violation of international law. Without provocation.

Ukraine did not start this war.

Ukraine did not ask for this war.

Ukrainians are fighting to survive it.

What is concerning is that international law is disregarded by leaders as the authority to determine what is right. They are making “might is right” terrible again.

“What does Ukraine want? Peace? Yes. At any cost? No. We want an end to the war but not the end of Ukraine.” Zelenskyy.

“Yes we are extremely tired, it doesn’t means we’ll surrender now or ever.”

When Prime Minister Carney met with President Zelensky in December, he clarified reality: Ukraine is on the front line of the global struggle between democracy and authoritarianism.

This war is not just about Ukraine, it’s about how the world responds when a powerful country decides it can simply take what it wants. Venezuela discovered that on January 3rd. Is Greenland, Taiwan, and Canada next?

Front Line 2026

If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine.

If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war.

May 2026 see a sovereign, secure, free, Ukraine at peace.

And may Ukraine see God at work within her borders and her friends supporting her.

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Canada has provided nearly $22 billion in total aid, including over $12 billion in direct financial support. That puts Canada in rarefied air among the largest financial supporters of Ukraine globally.

Jocelyn and I plan to return to Ukraine in November 2026. Stay tuned.
